Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and empathetic professional to join Parliamentary Service based in the Wairarapa Electorate office of Kieran McAnulty, MP. You will be tasked with administrative, front line work, while gaining an insight to New Zealands political landscape.Some of the tasks you may undertake include the following:

  • Greeting and assisting visitors to the office
  • Answering phones in a professional and helpful manner
  • Managing the information resources which the office provides to constituents
  • Distributing mail and assisting with mail-outs
You will be comfortable dealing with people - typically as their first point of contact, you will be highly organised and be committed to working as part of a tight team supporting Kieran to be able to successfully fulfil his responsibilities to Parliament and the public of New Zealand.As an employee of Parliamentary Service, you will be apolitical in your role. Awareness of the political landscape may be beneficial in supporting your MP.To ensure our people feel supported and enabled to develop their knowledge and careers, you will receive a Parliamentary Service induction which will set you up to succeed within this environment, as well as ongoing learning and development opportunities.This role is events-based, fixed-term role linked to the MP, starting on Tuesday 25 January 2022, and working 13.5 hours per week (9.45am - 2.15pm Monday, Thursday and Friday). Some flexibility in hours may be required.The appointing salary for this role is $48,767 per annum, pro rata to 13.5 hours/week.
